Taobao, Weidian and 1688 Links: Keep the Marketplace Context
The same search habit does not work equally well on every marketplace.
The practical goal is to preserve the source, product identity and option logic so the link still makes sense after it is copied into a spreadsheet, W2C page or agent interface.
Taobao
Taobao is consumer-retail oriented and can present many variations under one listing.
When saving a Taobao route, keep:
- product ID when visible;
- exact color/style option;
- size;
- seller/store context;
- current price for the chosen option.
Weidian
Weidian is common among independent storefronts and seller-specific product catalogs.
Seller/store context can be especially useful when recovering a changed link or comparing another listing that uses a similar title.
1688
1688 is supplier-oriented and can use quantity tiers, variant-dependent prices or wholesale-style option structures.
Do not assume the lowest visible amount represents one unit of the exact configuration you want. Read the quantity and option logic on the live page.
Why the Original URL Is Worth Saving
A shared W2C or Kakobuy route can make the page easier to open, but the original source URL gives you another recovery path.
Keep both when available:
Discovery route: where you found it. Source route: where the product originates.
Product Titles Are Weak Identifiers
Titles are easy to edit and easy to translate differently.
Use a product ID, seller/store and selected option as stronger context.
Option Selectors Are the Real Product
A marketplace listing can contain several different products or versions under one URL.
Before saving or ordering, confirm:
- color/style label;
- size;
- model/version;
- quantity;
- whether the image changes with the selected option;
- whether price changes with the selected option.
Price Context
A headline amount may be:
- the cheapest variation;
- a quantity-tier price;
- an accessory;
- a deposit or partial item in unusual listings;
- a temporary promotion;
- the selected product price.
The live option configuration determines what the amount means.
Link Recovery by Marketplace
When a saved page disappears:
- search the product ID;
- search the seller/store;
- search the short product description;
- use a distinctive option/model term;
- return to the relevant W2C category;
- compare replacements against the saved dimensions and option.
Passing the Link Into Kakobuy
Kakobuy’s current purchase interface supports product-link/search input and its mobile interface exposes Taobao, Tmall, 1688, JD and Weidian URL/keyword entry. Preserve the original source so you can verify what Kakobuy imports rather than assuming the imported title/thumbnail fully describes the desired option.
Marketplace Note Template
Marketplace: Product ID: Seller/store: Product: Option: Size/spec: Live price context: Source URL: W2C route: Unknown:
A record like this is still understandable months later.
Where Source Context Commonly Gets Lost
Source context often disappears during one of four handoffs:
- a marketplace URL is converted into an agent-ready page;
- a spreadsheet keeps only the final redirect;
- a community post uses a shortened or tracking link;
- a product is copied into notes without the selected option.
Preserve the original source before the handoff whenever possible.
Verify the Imported Product, Not Just the Import Success
When a marketplace link is loaded into an agent interface, compare the imported information with the source:
- product title or identifiable description;
- source seller/store;
- option labels;
- selected color/version;
- available sizes;
- quantity rules;
- price change between options.
A successful import only proves the link was parsed. It does not prove you selected the right variation.
1688: Read the Price Ladder Carefully
A supplier-oriented page can display a lower amount that applies only at a particular quantity or to a lower-priced variation. Before using that figure in a spreadsheet card, identify the unit/option represented by the price.
If that mapping cannot be established reliably, show the W2C live product page and let the user inspect the current option structure instead of publishing a misleading fixed number.
Recovery Example
Saved note:
Weidian · black wide-leg jeans · seller X · size 32 · product ID 123…
If the direct URL fails, the recovery order is:
- search the product ID;
- search the seller/store;
- search
black wide-leg jeans; - reopen Pants & Shorts on W2C;
- compare replacement measurements against the original target.
The saved source context turns a dead link into a reproducible search rather than a guess.
